BERT BOEREN

Bert Boeren (1962 Vught) gold in koperblazend Nederland aanvankelijk als een soort van wonderkind. Na 3 jaar klassieke opleiding in Utrecht en 3 jaar studie bij Bart van Lier in Hilversum, deed hij zijn intrede in de fameuze Dutch Swing College band. Met die groep vaderlandse jazz-ambassadeurs is hij sindsdien wereldwijd onderweg en maakte hij tot nu toe 13 CD's. In 1988, het laatste jaar van zijn opleiding werd hij al benoemd tot hoofdvakdocent aan de conservatoria van zowel Rotterdam als Den Haag.

Van alle jazzmuzikanten is Bert Boeren wellicht degene met de meeste visumstempels in zijn paspoort. Met de DSC speelde hij o.a. in de U.S.A., de Sowjetunie, Australie, Hong Kong, Singapore, de Philipijnen, Nieuw Zeeland, Aruba en Zuid-Afrika. Daarnaast werd hij veelal door de NOS uitgezonden om ons land te vertegenwoordigen als solist op festivals van wereldfaam zoals het NordRing Festival en de European Jazz-Week. Ook nam hij plaats in de Eurojazz-Big Band en de EBU Big Band. In 1992 werd hij uitgenodigd als solist op het Classical Jazz Festival in Palm Beach (USA).

Geen radio, TV- of platenstudio in Nederland of Bert heeft er wel eens opgenomen. Naast de genoemde 13 CD's met de DSC stond hij regelmatig als solist voor zowel het Metropool-Orkest als de The Skymasters en maakte hij platen met o.a. het Rob van Bavel Octet, Bart's Bones, The Swingcats, Cubop City Big Band, en Pim Jacobs. Maar ook voor een studioklus als anonieme begeleider van een popgroep (Doe Maar, Herman Brood, Marco Borsato) of voor een serie radiocommercials voelt hij zich geenszins te goed. En dat ondanks z'n riante lijst aan referenties van wereldnaam.

We doen een greep: tot nu toe speelde Bert Boeren met o.a. met Scott Hamilton, Warren Vache, Clark Terry, Peter Appleyard, Arnett Cobb, Ferdinand Povel, Denis LeLoupe, Mark Nightingale, Toots Thielemans, Greetje Kauffeld, Hans Dulfer, Satoru Oda, Peanuts Hucko en Urbie Green. Vier prestigieuze awards vormden tot nu toe z'n internationale bekroningen: de Export Award, de Bird Award - beide met de DSC, de Peter Schilperoort Award en de Kobe-Jazzfestival Award in Japan.
